According to Sebastian Faulks - his new James Bond is a complex fellow.
"He has been widowed and been through a lot of bad things ... He is slightly more vulnerable than any previous Bond but at the same time he is both gallant and highly sexed, if you can be both. Although he is a great seducer, he really does appreciate the girls he seduces and he doesn't actually use them badly."
I am torn between envy and admiration that the author of Birdsong and Engleby can genre hop into sexy spy fiction. I only hope that the movie takes itself a little less seriously than the over-hyped Casino Royale (hmm - with Sebastian as the writer, maybe I should hope that for the book too.)

Beware because you probably won't want to read about the literary furore sparked by Nobel winning poet Derek Walcott's attack on similarly endowed (Nobel-wise) travel writer Naipaul.
"The plots are forced, the prose sedate and silly/The anti-hero is a prick named Willie." is one famously funny line.
